Sweden's national emergency number 112 is managed by operators at SOS Alarm who alert the emergency services, police, ambulance and other parts of society's help resources.

SOS Alarm sends out a so-called pre-alarm as soon as the operator knows in which area the incident has occurred. The operator then completes the interview with the person who has raised the alarm and can thus supplement the alarm with more detailed information.

Each SOS centre has a medical director and a higher medical competence in the form of doctors or nurses with special skills.
