The recent rainfall has caused water levels to rise significantly in the centre of Arvika. More rain is expected this week, bringing a risk of localised flooding. Only last week, the water came over the edge of the quayside in the municipal park in Arvika, and the municipality then started to erect protective barriers.

SMHI, the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, is also warning of high water flows elsewhere in the country.
As a house owner, you are personally responsible for protecting your property. If you live in an area where there is a risk of flooding, it is good to be prepared. You can, for example, seal basement windows and ventilation openings. You can find current weather warnings from SMHI here.
