Storm gust warning for parts of Jämtland
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, SMHI, issued a class 2 warning on Thursday for storm gusts in inland parts of Jämtland county. The warning applies for Friday, when northwesterly storm gust winds of 25 m/s are expected.
Storm warning for the mountains
Storm-force winds are expected from Thursday afternoon in the mountain regions in Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Jämtland counties. The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, SMHI, has issued a class 2 storm warning. Class 2 is the highest warning level for wind in mountain regions.
SMHI warns of heavy drifting snow
Update January 8, 21:50: SMHI have revoked the weather warning class 2 for heavy drifting snow for the Stockholm Uppsala and Gävleborg counties.
Many households without electricity and drinking water after the storm
Update 8 January 16.20: The damage to the electricity grid after the storm is extensive and it will take until 18-25th January for all customers to get their electricity back, according to electricity provider Vattenfall.
