Warning: mercury found in skin lightening creams
During routine store inspections, environmental health officers have discovered mercury in six different skin lightening creams. Mercury is very harmful. The Swedish Medical Products Agency is therefore issuing a warning against the use of these creams.

Mercury can cause serious damage, thus it is prohibited to sell cosmetic products containing this element in Sweden and the EU.
“Mercury does not appear in the ingredients list. It’s not possible to rely on the ingredients list or the content of the products,” says Josefin Liljeteg, spokesperson for the Swedish Medical Products Agency.
