SMHI, the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, has issued an alert for the risk of grass fires in snow-free parts of the counties of Värmland, Gävleborg, Örebro, Västmanland, Uppsala, Stockholm, Södermanland and Östergötland. The risk is also high in Dalarna county with the exception of Dalafjällen; Jönköping county, south of Vättern; and in northern Västergötland, Västra Götaland county.
Grass fire risk alerts are usually issued in the spring when there is a high risk of fires occurring and spreading in areas of dry grass.
