Important public announcement for Unnaryd in Hylte

Original message: An important public announcement is issued for the town Unnaryd in Hylte municipality, Halland. Chemical contamination of the drinking water in Unnaryd. There is a risk of that the supply of drinking water will run out. The water is not to be drunk nor used for cooking, showering or laundry. Do not boil it. Flushing the toilet is OK. Update 12.45, 8 November 2022:
The chemical that has entered the water is called potassium permanganate and is used for water purification in the water purification process. The chemical discharge took place from the waterworks in Unnaryd. The municipality is investigating whether or how this may affect people or animals that may have ingested the water.
The water system will now be flushed and cleaned. The municipality will then test the water before it can be released again. The emergency services are helping to drive water tanks out to Unnaryd, where residents can collect water. See the map on the municipality’s website to find out where the tanks are located.
If you have drunk or been in contact with the water in Unnaryd, but feel no ill effects, you do not need to be concerned. But if you experience severe nausea or vomiting, please contact healthcare services.
